She’s a busy bee

Tamannah is happy with the roles she chose and says films are just a temporary aspect of life

HAPPENING Actor Tamannah

“You won’t believe it — I bought a laptop just a month ago and opened a hotmail account,” giggles Tamannah, who has been working round-the- clock for six years and acted in 13 films.

Her last four films — Konjam Ishtam Konjam Kastam, Ananda Thandavam, Kalasaala, Veedokkade — were released in succession and each had something to boast about. Reflecting on the success of Ayan,Tamannah says she was lucky to have been offered the role and grabbed it without a second thought.

She played a complex character Madhumita in Ananda Thandavam which drew a mixed response.

“The immature and confused behaviour is something every girl displays at different points of time in life. I’m okay with it. Though it didn’t go down well with people, it did make an impact,” she explains.

Tamannah lost an opportunity to work with Mahesh Babu and director Trivikram Srinivas for the Telugu film Varudu. Why? She explains that she was approached by the production house but the dates were not available. “I may get another opportunity to work with them in the future as they are a fabulous team and their reach is wide,” she says.

There were rumours about her rejecting Pista with Vijay, as she was keen on doing meaningful roles after the release of Ayan. She says, “I choose a film depending on various factors such as the script, the role, the banner and the director. No one can influence me to take up a film.”

At the moment, Tamannah is busy with Kandein Kadhalai featuring Bharat, a remake of Jab We Met, and Paiyya with Karti Sivakumar, directed by Linguswamy. Tamannah believes acting is a nine-to-five job and gives every role her best. However, she adds, “It is important to remember that films are just a temporary aspect of life.”

When she is not shooting, she prefers to catch up on sleep. She says, “I do cardio and weights and have a decent appetite. No fried, junk food and a strict ‘no’ to aerated drinks.” She writes poetry and loves being surrounded by warm and positive people.
