Metro Maharani offers quite a variety

Something for everyone At Metro Maharani

During a trip to Adventure Island or while shopping at Metro Walk mall, Rohini, Sector 10, hunger pangs might lead you to the first floor multi-cuisine restaurant – Metro Maharani. The USP of this 72-seater, according to the director Varun Gupta, “is definitely the variety the restaurant offers with a choice of Mughlai, Chinese and Thai cuisine.”

The menu card is a royal doorway into a rich world of options. The name Metro Maharani might fool you into believing that Mughlai is their only expertise. The ambience and Bollywood music too might be deceptive, giving the place the demeanour of an ordinary Indian restaurant. The never-ending list of Chinese sizzlers, thus, comes as a pleasant surprise.

One wouldn’t recommend soup for the first course as the pending courses are bound to be heavy. But for the salad-and-soup health conscious, kiel tiew soup under the Thai section is a rather filling clear soup with glass noodles and an assortment of sautéed vegetables. Flavoured with buttered garlic and white pepper, the soup is best consumed steaming hot.

The appetisers

Moving on to the appetisers, the chilly mushrooms served with English vegetables aren’t chilli enough, so one would prefer to sizzle with the sizzlers. The Kung Pao sizzler with chicken or prawn cooked in mildly spicy white gravy served with a blend of vegetable fried rice and noodles nestled in two separate cabbage comes on a smoking hot plate.

For those who’d rather stick to the traditional dal-bhaat, Metro Maharani offers value for money with its healthy servings. The restaurant tries to offer you even the regular mixed vegetables with a difference, what with pok choi and Chinese cabbage added to the usual carrot, beans and cauliflower cooked in garlic based red gravy. The kadhai paneer made in a special cashew nut and watermelon-seed gravy can be an appropriate alternative. If you’ve had enough of dal makhani this wedding season, you should go for the ‘bucketful’ of yellow dal tadka instead. The pudina paranthas should be ordered in excess for you just can’t avoid over-eating. You’ll surely be licking your fingers long after your stomach has given up on you.

A vegetarian meal can cost up to Rs.300-400 per head, while a non-vegetarian meal will amount to somewhere between Rs.500 and Rs.600. Local members enjoy exciting offers like ‘one plus one’ where on ordering one vegetable preparation they can get one dal preparation for free. As of now, a flat 25 per cent discount is being offered to all, till May 31.
