Charging up in the corridors

Cool Fun all the way

What’s to love: The decibel count rises and reaches a crescendo when the students throng their favourite hangout in the corridors on the 2nd floor of the main block.

Without a blink they reveal how much they love this spot as it keeps them at bay from the Principal’s office and the staff room on the 1st floor. The atmosphere in the corridor gets charged up as the students exude enthusiasm and energy while conversing on a range of topics. Right now, the students are enjoying a post-poll chat and give a ‘thumbs up’ for the new trend in politics – the entry of youngsters into the Parliament and the Council of Ministers.

The students discuss politics and cricket in the same breath and a post-mortem of the recently concluded IPL matches was inevitable. The defeat of Chennai Super Kings and not making it to the finals did disappoint them but at the same time nothing stopped them from screaming ‘hip, hip, hurray’ for the winners, the Deccan Chargers.

As and when time permits, paper presentations and symposiums too are discussed in detail hear. Each student shares his knowledge about engineering as they believe that teamwork takes one to places. Events like Sports, Annual or College Day are conducted with much fanfare. The management unfailingly invites an outstanding personality who shares his or her accomplishments and the road to success.

The students sweat it out by playing many sports together like volleyball, football, throw ball, badminton and chess.

The students also spend time going to the staff room and striking a friendly conversation with their lecturers. SMS jokes, films, music, events in other colleges, puzzles, square matrix, job scenario, higher studies, gadgets, bikes and cars are regular topics form their daily agenda.

Pulling each other’s legs by singing situational songs or coded names lightens the mood.

What’s not to: Discussion on examinations is not preferred as it makes the students jittery.

Alternatives: They also hang out at the canteen and bond over steaming cups of teas and endless servings of tasty bondas, as a lot can happen here too!
