Debut attempt

The audio of “Eesaa”, for which newcomer Haran has scored the music, was released recently

The crowd was ecstatic to see double Oscar winner A. R. Rahman on the dais. The occasion was the audio release of “Eesaa” for which newcomer Haran has scored the music. Actors Jeeva, Karan and director Rama.

Narayanan attended the event. The film is produced by J. Jayakrishnan for JK Creations with Vignesh and Lakshana in the lead. The others in the cast are M. S. Bhaskar, Lollu Sabha Manohar and Muthukalai. Balaganesha takes care of the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction.

The director says “Eesaa” is about the love between a rough and tough guy and an innocent girl.

As a majority of the incidents happen in the salt making units in and around Tuticorin, we held the shooting there. Vignesh has worked very hard on the project and shines in the action sequences — he has done his own stunts.” There are six songs in the album. The first, ‘Orumurai Nee Parthal’, sung by Harish Ragavendra and Bombay Jayashree and written by Na. Muthukumar, is the best of the lot. However, you wonder whether Bombay Jayashree’s voice has been properly utilised.

‘Agayam Edimuzhanga’, sung by Mukesh, Periya Karuppu and Chinnaponnu and written by Madura Kavi, is not up to the mark. ‘Unnalathan Nanum Vazhvein’, written by Na. Muthukumar and sung by Naresh Ayyar, Mukesh and Prashanthini, is good. ‘Vettaruva Kannazhagi’, sung by Udit Narayan, Haran, Nincy Vincent and Archith, grows on you.

There’s a remix number, ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’, rendered by Kennady, Mukesh, Kalpana and Jayshree Kumar — the less said about it the better.

S. R. ASHOK KUMAR
