Eves’ evening

Spaghetti Kitchen at Saket has some interesting fare

Italian specialities Spaghetti Kitchen offers yummy pastas, salads, etc.

If you belong to the fairer sex, wait till Thursday to pay a visit to Spaghetti Kitchen at Select City Walk mall, Saket. Here, as you would have rightly guessed, every Thursday is women’s day.

So you’ll be welcomed with a flower and you’ll also get to attend a free mocktail making session of a mocktail of your choice. There are also vouchers to win at the lucky draw.

Wide variety

But there is much to look forward to on other days too. It has an interesting menu to titillate your taste buds. One can start with the la stracciatella under the Zuppe (soup in Italian) section. This chicken soup for the soul, served with a loaded mushroom crouton on the side, is a double boiled clear chicken consommé enriched with a parmesan cheese egg drop. One sip and you’ll feel the effect of its healing powers. Parmesan cheese cream cheese baby potatoes, a signature dish in the first course, despite the repetition of ‘cheese’ in its name is surprisingly more creamy than cheesy, but worth the buck, nevertheless.

A word of caution, one would rather avoid the all vegetable pizza. Loaded edge-to-edge, this cracker pizza might take away your appetite for anything else.

Especially when there are so many exotic varieties to tempt you.

For a place that goes by the name of Spaghetti Kitchen, strangely enough, it offers only five varieties of spaghetti in all, none marked as signature dishes or recommended by the chef. Once you’ve recovered from that anomaly, you might want to put a finger down and place an order for penne vodka. It is their house specialty penne tossed in a light Italian tomato cream sauce.

One can then pick one of their imported meats from the main course section. You can also go for the beef steak dressed in Worcestershire sauce and be sure to order an extra serving of the worth-dying-for gravy.

Tiramisu, the Italian dessert, boasts of Italian ladyfinger biscuits dipped in a mix of vodka, brandy and coffee, layered with imported mascarpone cheese and coarsely grated dark chocolate. Sitting innocently on white porcelain, this might just be your highway to hell.
