The Hyderabad chapter of Asha, a non-profit, volunteer driven organisation is back with the fifth edition of the Phase Forward ACE Corporate Quiz in association with Phase Forward and the Indian School of Business on June 13.

At ISB’s Khemka auditorium, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., one gets to witness some of the best corporate quizzing teams volleying answers to ace questions served up by the city’s leading quizmasters. Proceeds from the event go towards supporting the mid-day meal scheme at the Ramakrishna Upper Primary School (RUPS) at Kukatpally and other projects that Asha, Hyderabad sustains across the state.

Started in 2001 for the children of quarry workers in Kukatpally, RUPS encourages parents to keep them in school and away from child-labour. A health camp conducted in 2004 revealed that many students suffered from severe malnutrition and related diseases. It was then that Asha-Hyderabad stepped into support a mid-day meal scheme at the school. What began as an aim to improve overall health soon became the driving force to retain children in school thereby ensuring basic education.

The Phase Forward ACE quiz is one initiative to gather funds to keep this programme going. Previous editions have had over 50 teams apart from the likes of Google, ISB, Microsoft, iRevna Chennai and others battling it out to support Asha, Hyderabad. Phase Forward, which recently donated school-bags to the children of RUPS, returns for the second year in row as the title and Diamond sponsor for the event.
