A jewellery collection capturing the essence of the Northeast was unveiled recently in Delhi
|
Going offbeat is in vogue
these days. But the
launch of `Adi-Kriti' -
the latest jewellery collection
presented by Jetha
Bhai Zaveri in Delhi, was
much more than that.
Inspired by the tribal jewellery
of the Northeast, the
range promises the essence of
indigenous culture of the region,
captured in 22k gold.
Conceptualized by the Kolkata-
based Resource India, the
jewellery brand is being retailed
in Delhi and in other
parts of North India by Jetha
Bhai Zaveri - a jewellery
company.
The basic premise of the
collection is based on the fact
that each ornament of tribal
jewellery has a story behind
it. It was recently launched at
the F-Bar.
There were loud cheers
from the crowd as the girls
flaunted exotic and wildlooking
necklaces first, like
the `Bison' from Arunachal
Pradesh and `Claws' from Nagaland.
The `Bison' inspired from
the head of Mithun (Crossbree
Bison) is considered auspicious
in Arunachal Pradesh
and Nagaland. .
Classy
Then there were some elegant
pieces like the Manipuri
`Raas-Mala' and classy ones
like the `Prayer Wheel' - inspired
by the prayer wheels of
Sikkim monasteries. A few
like the `Devil Dance' and
`Moonstruck' were simply
beautiful.
Some of the pieces appeared
too tribal and wild and
it would take guts to wear
them in the urban jungles.
All in all, the impressions of
the flora and fauna of the
Northeast were quite visible,
the jewellery being worked
upon by the traditional craftsmen
of Agartala and Kolkata.
In Delhi, Jetha Bhai Zaveri,
the popular jewellery store at
the Basant Lok Complex in
Vasant Vihar, will showcase
the range in a dedicated `Adi-
Kriti' brand zone.
