Salad moments

Bonsai’s salad and smoothies festival vouches to make it a cool summer

At Bonsai in Connaught Place, a salad and smoothie festival marks the second anniversary of the Japanese restaurant. The summer menu boasts a variety of salads which have been given an interesting twist. On offer are young lotus stem salad with apple and celery, Vietnamese char with grilled prawn and lemon grass salad, smoked chicken salad and green beans and bell pepper salad.

An exhaustive array of smoothies too dots the menu. Mango-orange smoothie, apple frazel , Chicago lemonade, cool collins, creamy creamsicle, California smoothie are merely a few among them. Ranjan Shahi, the executive chef, elaborates about the festival, “Japanese food is mostly steam-cooked and less spicy which is good for health and best for the stomach.” According to him, sweet chilly sauce, lemon grass, red vinegar, white pepper, crushed chilli and sesame seed are extensively used to enhance the flavour.

Counting on the speciality of Japanese food, Anuj Kaushik, the manager says, “People want to eat healthy in summer and that’s why this hotel-cum-restaurant is celebrating the salad and smoothie festival”. He adds, “This is absolutely the ultimate gourmet experience of Japanese food. ”.

A meal for two would come for Rs.1000 plus taxes.
