Hair-styling tips Tsomo Tsering trains professionals at Naturals Beauty Salon, Race Course

As I sit in the lobby of Naturals, the Unisex Beauty Salon, in Race Course, while waiting for the renowned hair stylist Tsomo Tsering, I am a little nervous. But when I see her walk into the room elegantly, she puts me at ease immediately. Tsering is the Technical Executive at Schwarzkopf Professional, the German company based in Bengaluru. This Bengaluru based expert came into this field because of her brother’s encouragement but soon developed a passion for it. Now, with 17 years of experience, she is a master in the arena of hair-styling. She has been training young and upcoming beauticians and hair stylists for the past three years.

She comes to Coimbatore every month for two days to train professionals in the city. Tsering does consulting also. She says that people are getting trendier as the days go by. Consequently, there has been an ever increasing customer base for hair styling. Though the majority includes teens and young adults, people well over 50 come in to have their hair cut according to the latest fashion. The upper middle class are ready to spend money to get the look right, she says. It is no longer about only models or actors coming in for a hair make-over. Tsering says that men come in equal numbers as women to salons. The styling depends mostly on age and profession. Fashion consciousness is creeping into India and is not only restricted to the urban areas. This fashion drive has created a lot of avenues for young people in the form of a career. There are many colleges which offer specialised training and full time courses in hair styling, notes Tsering.

Tsering wants to open a parlour cum training centre in the future. Wishing her luck for her dream to come true, I leave. When I look at her experience and expertise I have no doubt that she would have success with that too.
