A splash of colour At the Sahara fair
Sahara Art & Craft Shopping Festival organised by Sahara Handicrafts & Handloom Association, a Karnataka based voluntary organisation, is back to Coimbatore after two years.
Khurja pottery, Hyderabad pearls, Mysore agarbathis, Rajasthani bangles and Bhagalpur silk; they are all here.
This fest is organised to do away with middlemen and bring the customers in direct contact with the artisans. These artisans travel around the country putting up to 15 exhibitions a year.
This reduces the cost, benefits the producer and attracts exporters.
Something for everyone
This 17-day fest is a delight for the people interested in art, craft and handlooms. Terracotta stands, porcelain cutlery, furniture, cotton kurtas, handcrafted jewellery and footwear are all up for sale at reasonable rates.
There are also plastic items, stationery, pickles and CDs / DVDs on the shelves.
There is a good selection of clothes for both men and women.
You will find accessories like belts, watches, chains and bangles. Clothes, toys and games for children, are also available.
There are other attractions too for shoppers. An artist makes your portrait in under 10 minutes and you can buy spiritual cards to relax your mind.
Venue: V.O.C. Park Gate Ground, Dr. Nanjappa Road
Open from 5 June till 21 June Time: 10.30am to 9.30pm All forms of plastic money are accepted.
