Nanappa Art Gallery (Orthic Creative Centre) in association with ANMPU Media trust is playing host to the launch and exhibition of designer bags made by SangMitra which will open today at Nanappa Art Gallery. SangMitra is an all women recycling initiative conceptualised by artist Radha Gomaty.

The District Collector Dr. M. Beena will inaugurate the four-day event, which will be followed by a function to honour State Film awardees Lal and Madhupal. There will be a ghazal mehfil by Rafeeq Ibn Yusuf. On June 16, Prof. Nizar Ahmed, director, Centre for Convergence Studies, Kalady will deliver a talk on ‘The Philosophy of recycling’ at 5 pm at Nanappa Art Gallery. K. Jayakumar, director of Zero Waste Centre, Kovalam will be the guest of the evening followed by the screening of ‘Nattupacha’, a campus music video. The exhibition-cum-sale of SangMitra’s designer bags, totes and accessories will be on at the gallery (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.) and will conclude on June 18.
