Nitin looks forward to RGV’s ‘Adavi’ and his Hindi debut

Tough act Nitin in ‘Adavi’
Working for a Ram Gopal Varma or a Mani Ratnam film is something any young actor would crave for. When the offer came — at a least expected time — when Nitin was going through a lean period, it shocked him. Also Ram Gopal Varma directing
a Telugu film after years, the last one was Prema Katha — a debut film for Sumanth, came as a bonus. Adavi (Agyaat in Hindi) starring Nitin and Priyanka (Nisha) Kothari is releasing on July 17. The movie is about a film unit that goes to a forest for the shooting and gets trapped by something or someone that is unknown. In Anaconda, Jaws, Predator, Alien, death comes with a form, here in Adavi there is no visibility.
Adavi has been shot mostly in a forest area for over a period of 28 to 30 days at Sigiriya in Sri Lanka. This is not the first time Nitin has been shooting in a forest. His first film in Telugu, Jayam was also shot in a forest and the actor feels that since Jayam’s a hit, his Hindi debut Agyaat would become a hit too. “Sentiment factor”, he laughs. But he did have his fears, the actor has a phobia for snakes and was praying throughout. He says, “The Sri Lankan forests are very scary. The heroine met with an accident too. Priyanka and I had to jump from a steep cliff on the rock below. There were safety beds spread out for us but Priyanka jumped from a wrong angle and suffered a ligament tear.”
So how was the experience of shooting with the Mumbai unit been? Nitin replies that the only consolation was that Ram Gopal Varma is a Telugu-speaking person. He felt low on the day he left for Mumbai and was exhilarated on his return trip. Being with our people is an entire thing altogether, he remarks but praises Mumbaikars for being perfect planners, taking extra care of their looks, costumes, hair and style.
Ask him about his affair with Bhavana, Nitin exclaims, “What? That was supposed to be a publicity stunt by the producer and director of the film. I was mad when I heard about it being written in the first week when the shooting commenced. There is nothing to hide, you guys will be the first to know if something is on.”
