Taste of Italy

QashQai offers a slice of Italy this month

Exhilarating A dish on offer at QashQai

Lovers of Italian food will be treated to authentic Italian cuisine as QashQai kitchen and bar in Connaught Place has introduced an Italian food and drinks festival. The festival focuses on a range of Italian appetisers, salads, risottos, pastas, seafood, wines and desserts. The interiors of the place are done up in a fusion of Italian and Arabic influences, with Arab inspired archways and authentic Italian lamps. Music adds to the fine dining experience.

Amongst the starters, the crostini Siciliani is the most popular. The pine nuts lend a pungent flavour to the bread and cheese.

The passatelli soup, essentially pasta in broth with a cheese dumpling garnish, is mild, creamy and delectable.

Amongst the range of salads, the Salata Russa is definitely scrumptious. The potato stuffing gives it a texture that sets it apart from the regular Russian salads.

The Italian staples, pasta and risotto, are given enough attention. The risotto al-prezzemolo-e-basilico with basil and parsley, has a deliciously strong and sweet flavour.

Amongst the pizzas, the Santa Marghriyata is slightly more Italian in a way as the tomatoes and mozzarella cheese simply melts in the mouth. In the main course, the Asparagi Eleganti with fresh green asparagus in brandy cheese sauce proves to be an exhilarating experience for the taste buds. The Sicilian chicken sauté tastes mildly different and makes for a filling treat along with pilaf.

The collection of Italian wines has drinks like Gavi, Orvieto and Chinti. While the Orvieto continues to be a classic, the Gavi woos the young with its tangy and sugary taste, whereas the Chinti, which is essentially an Italian red wine, is more of a hit with the women.

The authentic Tiramisu still remains the most prominent Italian dessert the restaurant offers, and proves to be an entirely divine experience with a coffee layering on top which makes way for a rich and creamy interior. An average meal for two would cost approximately Rs.1000. The festival is on till June 30. Timings:Noon to 8 p.m.
