JENNEY’S ACADEMY OF TOURISM AND HOTEL MANAGEMENT

The Hangout: At the tables of the advanced training restaurant

Rush Hour: Lunch Time

Where it’s at: In between the advanced training kitchen and quantity food kitchen

What’s to love: It’s always food for thought but humor for their soul that reigns supreme at the Jenney’s Academy. The students throng the advanced training restaurant to unwind over lunch after a day’s hard work. They love the place as they have the privilege to chill out in an air-conditioned room. The added advantage: They can sit and enjoy their chit-chat.

Mimicking and pulling each other’s leg with funny names is a regular pick in the menu of fun and frolic here. They also rejoice exchanging with one another a recap of the day. They laugh over mix-ups by a friend putting Ajinomoto instead of sugar in carrot halwa or a wrongly copied recipe from the black board in the class.

Says Anupam, a final year student of B.Sc in Catering and Hotel Administration says: “We also discuss and brain storm about food and theme festivals. Some of us share certain forgotten and innovative menus too.”

What they unanimously assure is that they are all there for each other during the thick and thin of times. They discuss about their experiences and share pearls of wisdom with juniors about what specialization to pursue.

Another final year student, Nakul, says: “We are all passionate about sports and we enjoying playing it together and also watching and discussing it.” Surprisingly, the students did not take sides of any cricket team in the recently concluded IPL tournament. They supported every one who played the sport well. So, as Shivanand says, they cheered all the hitters and their favorites were Gil Christ, Raina and Yuvraj.

The students are at ease with the faculty and assert that they are more like friends and even play together. They look forward to festivals and events celebrated in the college like the Baker’s Day, Pongal, College Fine Arts Day because non-stop masti is guaranteed.

The students also support a social cause like making it a point to donate blood whenever there is a need, besides donating at camps regularly.

What’s not to: No discussions on examinations are allowed here.

Alternatives: They also hang out at the locker room when they go to change their clothes to the uniform for the practical classes. Even in the crowded room they enjoy gossiping or catching up.
