Workouts that are challenging and intense can make a person smart, say recent researches. Scientists at the University of Muenster, Germany, studied the effects of exercises and sprinting on brain function. They found that those who ran two three-min
ute sprints with a two-minute break in between learnt new words 20 per cent faster than those who took more rest. Researchers have concluded that activities such as sprinting and weight training that increase blood flow from the heart to the brain, encourage growth in areas of brain that control planning, memory and multi-tasking.
