If you are the kind who is conscious about your dance moves because you think that you have two left feet, never mind, you are not alone. Today, there are many dance schools in the city that can help you overcome the complex and inspire confidence in
you to pursue dance. With changing lifestyles, dancing has become a craze among the young and the old alike. Many hit the dance floor describing it as a venue for de-stressing and relaxing, nurturing a hobby, learning an art and above all keeping physically fit.
There is not only awareness about the different styles of dancing, but dance is also being taken as a wholesome fitness routine that helps boost your confidence, feels choreographer K. Ashok who conducts classes at Razzle Stars dance institute.
Many see it as a fun way of losing weight. “An hour of dance a day is all you need to stay fit and active,” says Ashok who worked as a choreographer in Ramoji Film City for eight years before coming to the city to train dance enthusiasts.
He gives training in various dance forms like hip-hop, salsa, jive, free style and creative dances. Members of Razzle Stars have also participated in dance shows like Boogie Woogie.
Children and teenagers or professionals are taking to dance for varied interests but most of them come to experience the liberated feeling, lessen their worries, have fun and beat the stress, he says.
And with the bubbling nightlife of the city, there is more than one reason for people to learn the art of dance.
“For me dancing is a way to de-stress. I can flaunt the stylish moves at the parties,” says Shilpa, one of the students of the dance institute. The dance floor is open from 10 to 12 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m.
While most people prefer freestyle, there are many takers for salsa and ballroom dancing too.
Freestyle dance is popular because of its flexible nature. It does not follow a rigid set of routines to be followed mechanically, but a combination of dance steps and techniques that can be reassembled in countless ways to create your own personal style.
It is spontaneous, creative, intelligent, playful, flexible and dance partners need not know the same sequence in order to dance together.
One of the most interesting things about it is the lack of structure, unlike ballet or ballroom dancing, which have even written manuals.
“One of the most important things to understand any form of dancing is to understand the rhythm of the music.
Each song has a definite beat that should dictate the speed of your movements,” adds Ashok.
There are separate workshops for kids, youths, or anybody who wants to enjoy the benefits.
The institute also offers wedding services and private lessons.
