ABC to reading

HarperCollins-India has launched a new series of books for toddlers called the Big Cat Read At Home Series. These 16 books are divided into four levels, and can be used at home as a child learns to read.

Level one is called First Steps, and links simple words and pictures together. Level two is called Discover Reading and helps children start to read short sentences. Level three, called Explore Reading, links stories with speech and developed characters and level four, called Love Reading, helps a child read longer stories independently.

These are not books you simply dump on your child to keep him busy while you watch TV. It requires the involvement of a parent to get the most out of it, and let the child have fun. The books are priced at Rs. 75 each.
