Building the chain of confidence

Empowered women who have turned around their lives

When 37-year-old school drop-out Alageswari of Jaihindpuram took to the mike, silence fell. After she finished narrating her success story of how she overcame penury with prudent business strategy, the strong crowd broke into a deafening applause.

She shared that she was able to earn Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000 per month on an average and help her family lead a decent life.

Not only was she able to support her children to continue higher studies but even purchase some luxury items. And she owes her achievement to ‘Tupperware’, a brand name in home products. “It moulded and trained me to face people and sell their products,” she exudes confidence.

Alageswari’s story is not an isolated one. Like her, many have come out of the confines of their home either to augment the family income or with the sole aim of providing education to their children in the best schools.

All these women are part of the “chain of confidence” movement launched in January this year.

“The movement gives an opportunity to change the life of other woman besides improving one’s life style,” asserts Michael Lazaro, national sales director.

“As majority of the items are kitchen wares, women are the mainstay of our programme as they seak from their heart about the product. It has the right kind of impact,” he says.

“All our products are made of high grade virgin plastic. They are colourful and non-toxic. Nowadays, women do not want to waste food and are ready to spend for a healthy lifestyle. The programme is a call for women eager to earn extra buck for the family,” he adds.

The event was organised to promote business opportunities for women and build a community of successful business women entrepreneurs.
