Live wire Rajat Kapoor

Rajat Kapor has donned many hats, acting and directing films, apart from anchoring a celebrity talk show. He is now sitting pretty after the success of “Mithya”, which he wrote and directed. “I like to make movies, based on my own s ensibilities. I act in and direct my kind of films,” says Rajat. “Bollywood is seeing the winds of change. New directors with fresh storylines are making an impact in the industry. It is a very positive development for the industry at large. I feel that the emergence of multiplexes have played a key role in furthering this trend. The audience is much more mature and appreciates good cinema.”

About theatre, Rajat says, “I have done a fair amount of theatre before. It is a very different medium from cinema, since you exist out of the camera frame and cannot seek refuge in the camera. Facing a live audience is a completely different ball game.”

Rajat is currently working on a number of projects. ‘Rann’ and ‘I am 24’ will be released later this year. “I liked my role in ‘Dil Chahata Hai’. It was small and important to the storyline.”
