Play time, folks!

Masquerade presents “Dystopia”

Masquerade, the city-based theatre group presents “Dystopia” (90 minutes) on September 4, 5, and 6.

“Dystopia” features two short plays adapted for stage from the popular sci-fi television series “The Twilight Zone”. The first play “The Last Actor on Earth” tells the story of an actor who is being tried for the crime of being obsolete in alternate society where a totalitarian government has banned theatre.

The second play “Man in a Box” is about a man who wakes up in a cube wearing a military uniform with no recollection of his past. He shares the cube with four bizarre characters — a clown, a mime, a ballerina and a tramp. The plays deal with how people examine and interpret their individual and collective dystopias.

The play, directed by Mathivanan Rajendran, will be staged at 7.15 p.m. all days, and also at 3.15 p.m. on September 6. The venue is Alliance Francaise, College Road, Nungambakkam. Donor passes are available at Rs. 150 and Rs. 100 (for students). Tickets available at Landmark (all outlets) and The Den (Adyar). For details, call 93802-86129.
