Darwin, naturally!

Know more about Charles Darwin, the father of evolution

Have you sat down on a rainy evening wondering how life came about on earth, or how man has evolved over millions of years? Then this must be of great interest to you. ‘Darwin Now’, an exhibition on the life and work of Charles Darwin is on till November 28, at the British Council, 737, Anna Salai.

Organised by the British Council, in partnership with Madras Naturalist Society and Chennai Live, the exhibition is a celebration of the 200th birth anniversary of world’s most famous naturalist and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his book On the Origin of Species.

The exhibition explores Darwin’s life, his ground-breaking theory, and the continuing relevance of his ideas. It also sheds light on the contemporary reactions to Darwin’s theories of evolution, and how fields as diverse as geology and economics influenced his thinking. Today (Saturday) there will also be an ad zap competition for colleges registered.

Also, watch out for the events lined up — puppet show on conservation; an interactive session ‘Ask your Doubts’ conducted by Madras Naturalists Society; a theme-based event by MOP Vaishnav College students etc.
