Feel like a break from the hustle and bustle of life? Take a trip to Coorg which offers a variety of ‘Bed and Breakfast’ schemes.
We zeroed in on a farmhouse resort in Ponnampet, about eight km from Gonikoppal in South Coorg. The resort is a perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy nature in its abundance, nestled as it is among coffee plantations on the Kutta-Nagarhole Road.
The resort has eight rooms that can easily accommodate 24 people. You can also choose to live in tents.
The rooms have two king-size beds, a wardrobe, a small balcony and an attached bathroom sans television or newspapers. The rooms are tidy and built with eco-friendly material.
The morning mist and the gentle tweeting of birds usher in a magical dawn. The weather is pleasant through the day. The cook from Shimla and the caretaker are very helpful and you can choose your menu. Take in the fresh air, walk in the fields, sing with the birds. Or relax by the campfire.
Make your holiday complete with trips to the nearby Nagarhole Reserve Forest (about 30 km), the Irupu falls (another 30 km), and the Tata tea estate. Look out for deer, they are aplenty here.
The Irupu falls are breath-taking, with a profusion of brightly-coloured butterflies.
