A medley of sorts

The music of “Kanagavel Kaaka” and “Naanayam” is a mixed bag

Launch Audio release of “Kanagavel Kaaka”

Vijay Antony has come a full circle in terms of music in films. He started as a music director, recently sang in a film, and now, he's written a song in Akarshini Theatres's “Kanagavel Kaaka”, produced by Saravana R. The audio of the film was released by Kamal Haasan, and the entire unit of the film, including the music director, received it. The film is directed by Kavin Baalaa, and the cast includes Karan, Haripriya, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Sampath Raj.

The album has six songs, and the most noteworthy is the theme music. ‘Tring Tring' is a good one written by Snehan (who has also written the first three songs in the album) and sung by Sangeetha. ‘Suthugira Boomi' sung by Benny Dayal is a nice piece, while ‘Paniyara Konda', sung by Anand and Srilekha Parthasarathy has good orchestration.

‘Minsarame' is sung by Mahesh Vinayakaram and Sangeetha, with lyrics by Vijay Antony. He must write more! ‘Indha Kadhal' written by Nellai Jayantha, and sung by Divya Vijay and M.K. Balaji compels you to listen it for the second time.

Capital Film Works' “Naanayam”, presented by S.P. Balasubramaniam and produced by his son S.P. Charan, is directed by Shakthi S. Rajan.

The music is by James Vasanthan. The cast includes Prasanna in the lead and Sibiraj in a negative role. There are six numbers in the album, and the title song mesmerises you with lyrics by Krudhaya. It also has another version.

Another mesmerising song is ‘Naan Pogiren' sung by S.P. Balasubramaniam and K.S. Chithra, with lyrics by Thamarai. Composer James Vasanthan has written ‘Aasa Aasa', an arresting number sung by Kannan, Megha, Ramya and Sheba. Devi Sri Prasad and Simbhu have fun in ‘Ka Ka Ka', written by Kavivarman.

Sunitha Sarathy does a splendid job in ‘Kooda Kooda', written by Yugabharathi.

S.R. ASHOK KUMAR
