Design challenge
The British Council and University of Bristol, the U.K., organise a competition, ‘The Dynamic Designs Challenge', where teams of students will design and construct an earthquake-resistant building.This challenge offers students the opportunity to work on a realistic client brief and receive feedback on their ideas and designs from experts. The preliminary stage will feature 30, six-member teams; 12 shortlisted teams will compete in the live final to be held at IIT Rourkee on August 20.
The finals will be judged by leading earthquake engineers from Bristol University and professionals from India. They will be selected in three categories — Best design proposal presentation; Best performing model on the ‘Shaking Table'; and the overall winners. The last date to send in applications is June 18. Movie screening
The British Council screens U.K. Environment Film Fellowship 2010-award films on climate change on World Environment Day (June 5) at 6 p.m. Five short films with climate change as theme (Adapting cities and Water conservation) will be screened at British Council, 737, Anna Salai.
