LOSA MEET Dr. G. Natchiar, Vice-Chairman of Aravind eye care systems, addressing the valedictory session
It was a delightful experience replete with same old fun and frolic for many collegians and professionals. They loved to be school-students once more. The unfailing event of years was the ‘LOSA (Lakshmi Old Students Association)-2010, an annual State-level TVS alumni event and inter-school cultural festival.
It was a happier and rewarding juncture, days of satisfaction and pleasure, for the teachers as well, to see their successful students.
From the senior most batches to the recent pass outs, the alumni of the institution enjoyed being a part of the occasion, at the TVS Matriculation school campus. The three day affair, a commemoration of the impeccable bond between the school and its students was a big success for the 24th consecutive year that included many cultural programmes, creative competitions and fun fests. This time round, it came with a special tag -- ‘Save tigers' – an enviro-theme to support the cause of conserving the big cats.
“This year the event drew a huge turn out of over 3,000 students. More than 35 schools from various parts of the State participated in 48 different competitions apart from six other programmes organized exclusively for teachers. We promoted the theme by organizing debates and discussions on the issue apart from giving away posters on saving tigers to different schools taking part in the cultural events, so that the message is spread state-wide,” beamed Mr. Mahesh Chabbria, LOSA president.
The school Principal Ms. Uma Ramesh felt happy about the school playing host to the large-scale juncture for so many years now. She described the annual event as a lucrative forum for students to exhibit and enhance their talents and skills.
“I would'nt call this a competition, but a suitable platform to nurture and exchange ideas,” she asserted.
A fashion show titled ‘Costumes of India' marked the gala conclusion of the event capturing the interest of the large gathering. It displayed different styles of ethnic and modern outfits aesthetically mix-matched.
Guys and girls turned models cat walked the ramp with élan and attitude and added glam to the grand finale.
Among all the bonhomie and fun events, old students added real colour to the show. Each day turned out to be a combination of charged moments – from mingling emotions to happiness of school days relived, and of course, the hope of returning for next year's mega silver jubilee celebration.
Lauding the rich legacy the school has bestowed upon its students, every LOSA member recalled their fun filled school days and fondly looked back to be a school kid once more!
The valedictory function was presided over by chief guest, Dr. G. Natchiar, Vice-Chairman of Aravind eye care systems, in the presence of the TVS School Director, R.Srinivasan, and the School Principal. Winners were given away prizes for all contests held over three days and the event ended in unifying hurrays and cheers and united colours and emotions.
