All in the family

When you are ‘family friends' with Salman Khan, consider yourself lucky. Singer Amrita Kak, daughter of Rajasthan Tourism Minister Bina Kak, has no qualms about admitting that Salman Khan is her mentor and, without him, she would struggle for space in the industry. Salman spotted Amrita when she was very young and, and observing her interest in singing, gave her a big break in his own film “Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya”. But what catapulted her to fame was “Ready”'s ‘Dhinka Chika' and ‘Character Dheela'. However, Amrita says she has only her composers Sajid-Wajid and their uncle and her guru Sarfaraz Khan to turn to, to hand-hold her.
