Sita's angst

In memoriam of mridangam and edakka exponent Subramaniam Potti, Rangasri presents Nangiarkoothu by Annie Johnson, a disciple of Margi Sathi. Annie will be performing an excerpt from Sreeramacharitham. It depicts Sita in contemplation about her fate whilst living in exile in the ashram of Sage Valmiki, after being banished from Ayodhya by Lord Rama. While deep in thought she is pleasantly surprised to hear the voice of her friend Vasanthi, the forest nymph. The Nangiarkoothu will be staged at the Rangasri Natyagriham, Karamana on June 25, 6 p.m. Contact: 2346942.
