Film school from Akkineni family
Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Nagarjuna
Hyderabad had a rather late start in having film schools, considering that the city boasts of one of the most vibrant film industries in the country.
If the Ramanaidu Film School was one of the first big ventures trying to bridge the gap, Annapurna Studios is not far behind.
The studio is launching the International School of Film & Media, claimed to be the only non-profit, privately managed film and media institute in India.
The institute aims to educate and train aspiring students for the entire media industry. Kurt Inderbitzin, who launched Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods institute, will be the CEO. Kurt Inderbitzin has produced feature films and tele-films and series in the US for CBS, ABC, NBC, Lifetime and TBS before becoming President of the entertainment company Abandon Pictures.
A formal announcement will be made today, in a rare event when Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Nagarjuna are expected to unveil their plans for this ambitious project.
