Guide for the Season
THE DECEMBER Season of classical music and dance in Chennai is unique because of the large number of privately-promoted festivals on classical music and dance in this city.
`KutcheriBuzz,' based in Alwarpet, Chennai, has, over the past five `seasons,' taken the festival across the world through its web site, www.kutcheribuzz.com. The web site, devoted to Carnatic music and classical dance in south India, has a special section devoted to `December Season 2004'.
The section features all the major concerts at all leading sabhas, has news and information on concerts, lec-dems and workshops, offers tips on booking tickets, planning a schedule and lists accommodation available for those who come to the city.
It also features details on the fringe events — music heritage walks, chat sessions with artistes, lectures and demonstrations, vintage cinema shows and sales of albums.
From mid-December onwards, the web site will feature reports and pictures on all the events, so that rasikas who cannot make it to Chennai, can get a ringside view of the action.
The KutcheriBuzz Season's Guide is a handy reference on the season — this booklet lists all the best concerts, features pen portraits of the leading artistes and has information on all the fringe events.
The Guide will be available for free circulation from December 7 onwards, at all sabhas and at the KutcheriBuzz office at 77, C. P. Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet, Chennai
600 018. Books will also be kept at the offices of all leading sabhas.
As the season picks up steam, the KutcheriBuzz-produced December season newspaper, published every evening, will be circulated at all leading sabhas, providing the buzz of the festival and networking rasikas.
The newspaper is free and comes out on 20 days (bound copies of this newspaper are sold at Rs.60 at the KutcheriBuzz office from January 6, 2005, onwards).
Also, the web site will feature short video reports on all the key events that take place in the sabhas and on the fringe.
