Sri Narayana Tirtha
Sri Narayana Tirtha takes his place of pride as an outstanding exponent of Nama-siddhanta philosophy and Nama-sankeerthana movement. His intense faith in extolling the Lord's name to seek His grace is seen in many instances of his life. His guru Sivaramananda Tirtha, who ordained him as Narayana Tirtha, commanded him to keep on chanting God's name as the only means to self-realisation. As a reward for his unwavering faith and dedication, he received divine guidance at every significant step of his spiritual journey. He was led by a boar (Varaha) to Bhupathirujapuram (now called Varahur), where he completed his monumental work `Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini.'
His tarangams
Like in the case of Narayana Bhattadri of Guruvayur, his tarangams were approved by Lord Krishna at the Varahur Temple by the sounding of His anklets. When he was taunted by a contemporary poet for not being able to capture the Sringara Rasa of Sri Krishna's youthful exploits in `Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini,' he was blessed with a wonderful vision of rasa-krida. So that he could compose a gitam in Sringara Rasa and remove that stigma.
Thiurpoonthuruthy Narayana Tirtha Swamigal Trust, Raja Annamalaipuram, is organising its 9th Mini Music Festival at Sringeri Pravachana Mandiram, Sringeri Mutt Road, Raja Annamalaipuram. N.R.
