ANNOUNCE PIECES ON AGENDA

When I visited the U.S., I had the chance of listening to several Indian artistes who were meticulous enough to announce in detail their pieces to be presented. In fact some of them went to the extent of explaining the tala pattern or the `rhythm cycle in which the kriti is embedded.' The audience in India too is a mixed lot — the knowledgeable and the not-so-knowledgeable. An announcement in the beginning will help the rasika enjoy the music better instead of spending time figuring out the raga, kirtana and so on.
