TOO DAZZLING

Personally I felt that Ramli Ibrahim's Odissi ballet staged in Kalakshetra had too much nritta, too much `galatta.'

There should have been moments of stillness, some rest for the eyes and the mind. But what a brilliant choreographer he is!

The music was good, the dancers perfectly trained, everything had a professional touch.

The girl who played Kali in one of the pieces was amazing. So much passion in her dancing!

The lighting was imaginative, though in some parts I couldn't see the faces. But perhaps that was all right because the choreography is not abhinaya-based.
