And the best were...

I am very choosy about the programmes I attend. I am happy that I was able to listen to a lot of good music this season at Sri Tyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Music Academy and Bharat Kalachar.

The best artists of the season, according to me, are T.M. Krishna, Vijay Siva and T.V. Sankaranarayanan, in that order. I did not see anything different in their repertoire this year.

T.M. Krishna requested the audience to leave only after a kriti was over, not to walk out during the tani avartanam and not to leave at the beginning of the mangalam. It was said with humility and was received in the same spirit.

Alarmel Valli was amazing. What energy! Shobana's dance was very different — a commendable effort to adapt Bharatanatyam to other forms of music.
