Special documentary
For the first time in the history of commercial screenings in regular cinema houses, `Aarar Aasaipadar,' a documentary film on musician Sanjay Subramaniam, made by Prasanna Ramaswamy, is repeated at Sree, Sathyam Cinemas, on December 31, Sunday, 10 a.m. This show has a special edge to it, that it features the artiste Sanjay Subramaniam in conversation with the audience at the end of the screening with prizes for selected questions. Regular ticket booking channels open at Sathyam Cinemas. (Ph: 4224 4224 for home delivery and www.thecinema.in for online booking).
Sudden tirade
It is common that critics earn the displeasure of artistes by their comments. In a recent programme, the organiser, it seems, went on stage to lash at the `poor' performance of the musician. A stunned artiste and an equally surprised audience were left speechless by this sudden tirade. Obviously etiquette takes a backseat during the season!
Strange truths!
These two women in Aruna's concert were chatting almost breathlessly before the starting of the concert. One could not but feel amazed at the ease with which their conversation moved from mundane household things to finance propositions of their husbands, to conditions of music halls to the various programmes they have attended and wish to attend, etc. It is indeed amusing to listen how conversations seamlessly stretch from one topic to another without much difficulty!
In this connection one should mention this lady who goes to all concerts with her handbook of songs, composers and ragas. When she finds the artiste singing the particular kriti she drops into slumber and wakes up for the next and so on.
