It’s time once again to ragas to fill the air as various sabhas gear up for their annual music and dance festivals. A round-up of the events at some of the sabhas in the city:
Kalarasana
Kalarasana is hosting its 26th music festival from December 13, 2008, to January 4, 2009, at Rani Seethai hall, Anna Salai. Concerts will be held at 4 p.m. and 6.15 p.m. daily. Senior and junior artists will take the stage at 4 p.m. and 6.15 p.m. For details, call 28294863 or 93809 61671.
Nalinakanti Fine Arts
Nalinakanti Fine Arts and the Department of Natya, MGR-Janaki College are hosting the 7th Nalinotsavam Series from December 5-12 at the Dr. MGR-Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women, 11 & 13 Dr. Durgabai Deshmukh Road, R.A. Puram. Some of the artists who will perform in the series are Vijay Siva, Thiruvarur Swaminathan, Vasudha Keshav and Vidya Kalyanaraman.
Isai Tamizh Vizha
Kalarasana and Shanmukhapriya are jointly conducting the Isai Tamizh Vizha from December 5-11 at Swamy’s Hall, 236, R.K. Mutt Road, Mandaveli. All the concerts begin at 6.15 p.m. Some of the musicians who will perform include Papanasam Ashok Ramani, Kunnakkudi Balamuralikrishnan, Amrutha Venkatesh, Trichur brothers, Bhushani Kalyanaraman, Prasanna Venkataraman and Shertalai K.
