Bharatanatyam recital
Under the auspices of Natya Samarpanam, veteran performer Prof. C. V. Chandrasekhar will present a Bharatanatyam recital on December 1, 7 p.m., at Vani Mahal, G.N. Chetty Road, T. Nagar.
Award for artist
Mridangam vidwan Tiruvavur Bhakthavatsalam will be conferred the title ‘Sangeetha Sahrudhaya Seva Ratna’ by the Shirdi Sai Sangeetha Sabha on December 1, 6 p.m. Flute maestro N. Ramani will present the award. The function will be held at Jaigiopal Garodia School, U 6, Anna Nagar. The award carries a citation, cash of Rs. 5,000 and a memento.
New dance drama
As part of the 39th Anniversary celebrations and Fine Arts festival of the Nungambakkam Cultural Academy, Sri Devi Nrithyalaya is presenting its latest dance drama ‘Shadaksharam’ on December 5, 7.15 p.m., at Rama Rao Kala Mandap, Karnataka Sangha, T.Nagar. Choreographed by Sheela Unnikrishnan, 65 students of various age groups will be participating. The music and lyrics are by Madurai R. Muralidharan.
