Choreography will be a highlight
MY FESTIVAL ‘I am happy with all that I have got so far’ When M. D. Ramanathan sang, it was like the voice was emanating from the belly of the Universe.
MUSIC ACADEMY In a different format MUSIC ACADEMY A veteran’s touch T.N. Krishnan still holds the magic of the bow and the fingerboard. The Bombay Sisters’ concert was lively all the way. MUSIC ACADEMY Highlighting the ragas’ beauty A scholarly and entrancing performance was offered by veteran Hindustani vocalist Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar. MUSIC ACADEMY Rich aural treat While Aditya Prakash’s rendition of Abhogi was wholesome, Jayaprada’s Kharaharapriya was blemishless. MUSIC ACADEMY When the flood gates opened Pantula Rama did not lose sight of aesthetics in her exquisite pallavi rendition. INDIAN FINE ARTS SOCIETY With consummate ease Kuldeep Pai’s tonal strength comes to the fore as he renders sogns with conviction. BHARAT KALACHAR Creatively presented The musical exchange between Ganesh and Kumaresh was inspired and strikingly different. SRI THYAGA BRAHMA GANA SABHA Captured the essence The Mambalam Sisters did ample justice to the wealth of sahitya at their disposal. Harish's trump card is his facile voice. SRI KRISHNA GANA SABHA Simple and straightforward Sowmya’s recital was steeped in classicism. Saswathy Prabhu’s approach to music was marked by sampradaya purity.
BRAHMA GANA SABHA Theatre of the Lord ‘Siva Swaroopa Thandava Lahari’ was an interesting blend of music, expressions and footwork. SRI KRISHNA GANA SABHA Mosaic of colour and action Shobana flitted across the stage like twinkling lights, but never got down to the basics. NARADA GANA SABHA Effective portrayal It was reassuring to see complete sets of adavus rather than designer adavus presented in Jayanthi’s performance. BHARAT KALACHAR Professionalism in evidence Professor C.V. Chandrashekhar’s ‘Aarohanam’ traced the evolution of life forms — from molluscs to the Buddha. USHA RAMDAS |
