OWNER'S PRIDE: Your furniture collection and art display should make your neighbours and friends go green with envy.

Encouraged by the response from our readers and participants in several Lifestyle Shows in the country, `The Hindu-Metroplus Lifestyle Show' in Bangalore too (September 6-11, Palace Grounds, Mekhri Circle) is all set to be an exciting affair with a generous dose of home segment features and a stockpile of fun and frolic.

"There is something for everyone who is looking for home improvements at the Metroplus Show. It would be an inspiration to buy new-fangled art pieces to embellish your home," says Rais Arif, Chairman, iCare Communications, the official event managers. The exhibition will provide a platform for people who want to launch their products in the city or start their showrooms. "Spanking new ideas and good pricing are the watchwords of the showcasing here," guarantees Mr. Rais.

Solid wood furniture

Fitting into this category is Ekbote Interiors, one of the co-sponsors of the show, dealing with every home requirement in wood. "We have a blend... yesterday's tradition and today's technology," says Ganesh Ekbote, of the Pune-based automated furniture company, soon to have one of its wings in Bangalore.

"As far back as 1991, our enterprise came up with `Roomwise display' in its showrooms to enable customers visualise the furniture," says Mr. Ganesh.

Ekbote specialises in solid wood only and does not care for particleboard or compressed wood. Dealing with veneers and art-inlay material too, ready-to-assemble furniture kits in flat packs, insect-free logs shaped in sophisticated machinery and delivery at your doorstep are all the add-ons.

Its upholstered divans, centre settees, beds, magazine holders, contemporary seating and dining pieces have emerged afresh in the market, with regular ideas and concepts taking a beating.

Imported

Mind-boggling designer wooden and leather furniture, washbasins in wood and ceramic ones set in cabinets are contemporary additions to one's lifestyle. Shipped from Thailand and Vietnam, these along with artificial flowers that put natural ones to shame will be part of the home front attraction.

Delhi-based interior decorators, `Poettery-Design for Life', is novelty galore, for, wood takes on incredible avatars in Poettery's artistic creations. Table lamps, vases, mirror frames, teapoys and corner pieces are visually captivating with a glazed look.

Says Sarabjeet Singh of Poettery, "It is the unique lamination processing given to wood in certain portions that highlights the art so well. We have qualified designers who visualise a piece according to market requirements."

Green stone glamour comes all the way from Pakistan - art pieces from Onyx stone. And Kenyan women with their natural/tree artefacts have been regulars at Metroplus Lifestyle Shows in Chennai, Madurai and Kochi.

They will put up their animal objet d'art and the Masai tribe family figurines that are painstakingly done from wood, banana fibre and porcupine quills.

While I-Rest will bring in its Massage Recliners, Sai Arts, Ethnic Collection, Earthern Symphony and Inspirations are ready to adorn your walls with their paintings and murals.

Faber electric chimneys, Gilma kitchen appliances, Just Linen and Swadeshi Furnishings also make their grand representations.

Paints and lights

As Berger Paints is already brushing up its colours for presenting theme collections, the exhibition will see it creating more awareness about `The Lewis Berger Home Dιcor Painting Service' which answers the wall needs of a house, without the hassles of getting involved in the elaborate process. Chennai-based K-lite's mellow gleam at the Grounds will be from the lighting company's range of flox and flexi-neon lights from Italy, Spain and China. Garden lights, spot lights, fibre-optics and recessed down lights will sit pretty in their stall, highlighting the interior and exterior options in K-lite's grand assortment.

Radio City FM 91 is going to capture glimpses of the Lifestyle Festivity and hold several contests too.

With a sprawling 150 stalls spread over 4,500 sq. metres of shopping space, Palace Grounds will indeed see a celebration of life! Are you ready for the show?

Tickets are priced at Rs.40 and come with surprise gifts. Call 93425-77908 or 98801-95758 for details
