`Furniture of future' at fair

The expo to be held in Mumbai will have all the bigwigs in the business participating

Index International Trade Fair-2006, an international finished furniture trade fair, is being organised in Mumbai from September 13 to 17.

More than 200 participants from across the globe are expected to join the fair organised by Index Media in association with Association of Furniture Manufacturers of India.

In a statement issued here, the organisers have invited furniture professionals from the State to visit the exhibition and take a look at what they promise to be the "furniture of future.

" Some of the big names participating at the fair include Godrej, Featherlite, B.P. Ergo and N.R.Jasani in the office segment and B.P.Techno, World Corporation, Renaissance Glass Works and Crystal Furniture in the home furniture segment.

The other segments include kitchen and bath which drew response from Kanu Hacker Kitchens, Faber Heat Kraft and Huzaifa Decor while the wood and machinery segment has Woodtech Consultants and Master Handlers.

Design pavilions by American Hardwood Export Council, National Institute of Design and Industrial Design Centre, IIT, Mumbai will be part of the fair.

According to the organisers, over 70 international participants are expected to take part in this year's fair including 33 from Italy, 10 from Thailand, eight from Malaysia, 6 from Brazil apart from China, Germany and the U.S. Seminars on `The Emerging Trends' in lighting, furniture as well as design form the proceedings.
