Doors of convenience and durability for your homes

Products made of PVC, such as doors, are sometimes preferred over wooden ones.


The traditional wooden frames and doors have given way to PVC doors and frames, especially in the bathrooms, and they have proved their worth in the past as is evidenced by the burgeoning demand for them. Some of the brands available are fire retardant and are resistant to acid and alkali.

Cheap and convenient: PVC doors are becoming increasingly popular.

The requirement of saving money and time being a priority when building houses, residential apartments or even offices, PVC products have stolen a march over their traditional counterparts in plywood and timber.

Wherever wood or plywood can be replaced with PVC, people are going for it in a big way, said a leading dealer in PVC products in Kochi.

He said that PVC doors, doorframes, boards, cabinet units, partitions, kitchen cabinets, panelling, ceilings, etc are in great demand and come with comfortable price tags. Their aesthetic appeal and convenience are factors that have added to their attraction.

Strong

Doors made of PVC sheets are lightweight and strong and durable. Through their durability has been questioned in the past, their performances have removed those doubts, said the dealer who has been in the field of business for nearly two decades now. PVC doors are also 100 per cent water and termite proof, they require no painting or varnishing; they do not involve big maintenance bills and offers the advantage of applying colours as may be required. Some of the brands available are fire retardant and are resistant to acid and alkali.

PVC doors also allow fitting of accessories as in a wooden door and also are available in various colours and sizes.

Cost factor

The cost of PVC doors and accessories depend upon the brands, quality and thickness of the products involved.

The doors are available in several sizes such as 2.25 ft., 2.5ft. in breadth with lengths varying from 6 ft. to 6.75 ft. Similarly thickness of the doors varies.

Besides the established brand names among PVC doors and fittings, there are local produce and distribute various products.

Even here, the quality of the products has to be looked into before the prices are considered. One of the dealers in the city said that a bath room door and accessories can be fitted at a cost of around Rs.1,650.

This is an indicative cost and it will vary according to the requirements of size, thickness, quality etc. There are several top brands as well as local players in the growing market for PVC doors, windows, kitchen cabinets, cubicles, wardrobes, etc.
