Check this out: A wide range of bathing luxuries are available in the market to pamper the users’ senses.

A tryst with pouring clouds or a swim in the whirling stream must have been sources of immense pleasure in the medieval existence of mankind. No wonder man constantly strove to perfect on those simple joys and carried them through the evolutionary complexities of his development. His obsessive experimentation with different kinds of baths and showers, though nowhere near the natural bliss, has set telling examples of human refinement. Remember those Harappan public baths c ombining pleasure and social living?

“Rain showers give the feeling of being drenched in rain,” corroborates Narinder Anand, the Managing Director of Value Line Trade, which has an exclusive showroom of branded sanitary ware and bath appliances at Banjara Hills. TOTO from Japan, Hoesch from Germany, and Sherle Wagner from the U.S.A. are a few names to reckon in their collection.

Steam and shower cubicles with sliding glass doors are getting popular by the day by effectively doing away with the spacious bathroom settings. Basic models of these compact chambers come in various sizes complete with all bath fixtures and steam vents. Features such as FM radio, two-in-one Jacuzzi bath tub and exhaust fan are provided as add-ons. “We have 35 models of shower cubicles varying in sizes, shapes, options and interiors,” explains Mr. Anand. Temperature control mechanism make sure that the cubicle has just enough heat for the user while the hand shower doubles up as head shower when placed in a fixture. Head shower can be lowered or heightened depending on the user’s need.

“Bathroom is an extremely private space where one would like to relax after a day’s hard work. Attempts are to make the experience truly refreshing and rejuvenating,” says Mr. Anand.

Chromotherapy or healing with hues is the latest addition to the bath package. A multi-chrome lamp fixed about the ceiling will shower the user with a colour of his choice. The lamps can be fixed to the floor of the bath tub too, rendering the water with the chosen colour.

Cubicles from Hoesch come with seating arrangements for one or two occupants though without the bath-cum-Jacuzzi-tub. Inward-opening doors render them with the facility to be fitted into the minimum possible space while a hose allows the water to gush in and cool the feet after a prolonged bath. A remote control system precludes the pain of reaching the control panel. The cost of a shower cubicle begins at Rs.2.5 lakh and scales higher with each bit of sophistication. Another noteworthy development of bathroom luxury is in bath tubs and spas. The spa with an in-built water filtration system will rule out the need for a refill up to 30 days.

Equipped with underwater lighting and a complete cover, it is highly suitable for outdoors such as garden and terrace.

Bath tubs equipped with headrests and massage points are the latest fad. With side, bottom and back massaging options, heavenly bliss would be within hand reach for the user.

Touch screen controls and FM radio are additional provisions.

Knee comfort during long baths is ensured by a raised column in a bigger bath for two people.

Air bath technology with small vents for bubbles to pop up is another latest feature that adds to the indulgence. Cast iron baths by TOTO are the most elegant and come with floor-standing shower-sets.
