National Association for realtors launched

It would help the members to buy, sell, lease or even refer prospective clients on the look out for property solutions to members globally, writes Shanthi Kannan

The Chennai Real Estate Agents Association (CREAA) has joined hands and has become affiliated members of the U.S. based National Association of Realtors (NAR). A National Association for Real Estate Agents has been formed and registered as "The National Association of Realtors – India (NAR-I) and got registered under the Societies Registration Act of India during June this year.

The agreement is expected to help realtors do business with around 1.2 million realtors globally across 50 countries, says Bhadresh P. Mehta, President of CREAA. He said it would help the members to buy, sell, lease or even refer prospective clients on the look out for property solutions to members globally through the portal for a commission on the transaction closed. The Secretary , Abdur Ravoof, said CREAA would appeal to the bankers that they also register the hypothecation of the property while releasing the loan. This hypothecation would be reflected in the encumbrance certificate (E.C.) and would alert the innocent buyers.

The National Association of Realtors (India), Founder President, Farook Mahmood, said the Association had made representations to the Government on various occasions on different issues.

The forum would take this opportunity and appeal to the Government of Tamil Nadu to issue licences to the real estate agents to regulate their trade. The licensing system already exists in countries such as Singapore and the U.S. The responsibility of the licensed agent increases making him more accountable and transparent. Similarly, the association has a web site www.creaa.net where the office bearers, committee members and all members’ contact telephone numbers with address are provided for reference. The association has also recommended service charges/ brokerage, a member of the association should charge his clients for the services rendered.
