No more fear to leave home

Godrej has come up with a variety of mechanical and electronic safes to suit different levels of insecurity, finds out Swati. V

Safety gadgets: One of the models of the electrical safes launched by Godrej.

Being rich has its own minuses. Fear gets the better of the wealthy as their wealth grows. No safe seems to be foolproof and no lock the ultimate. Ominous visions of wily robbers compromising the lock with the snap of a hairpin keep many a property owners awake through the night. Leaving the home even for a short while is mortally dreaded.

Banks may offer a solution in safe deposit locker facility, but nothing can match having one’s wealth roosting by one’s side. And the wealth may include invaluable documents, priceless jewellery or irreplaceable items that need to be used and inspected time and again.

Wealth jitters

Propertied persons suffering from wealth jitters can now breathe easy with e-safes installed at homes. Godrej, the pioneer in the production of home safes, has come up with a variety of mechanical and electronic safes to suit different levels of insecurity. All are made from high strength steel and use the most sophisticated locking technologies for maximum possible safety. The range begins from the multi-lever un-pickable lock models and ranges through electronic passwords, magnetic swipe cards to finger print locking safes. Another significant feature is their conduciveness to be installed inside a cupboard and bolted into the wall for additional secrecy and security.

“The materials we use and the design and technology of our safes relieves you from the day-and-night worry of theft. Frequently needed assets like jewellery, cash and other valuables and important documents can be stored safely,” says D. E. Byramjee, Vice President and Business Head of Godrej Security Equipment Division.

The range offered is very wide. Electronic E-Swipe Safes with a push button keypad have dual password system and are equipped with magnetic swipe reader to recognise Credit, Debit or ATM cards.

They have an Auto Freeze mechanism to prevent opening by trial and error. Electronic e-Bio Safes come with an Advanced Optical Biometric Sensor Technology that will recognise the touch of unique fingerprints. Electronic Taurus Safes have a mechanical override in case of any e-breakdowns. They are single moulded cases with interior carpeting an automatic shutdown facility. Electronic Rhino Safes have a multi digital keypad for keyless opening and two user passwords for total confidentiality coupled with auto-freeze. Even well-equipped thieves with mechanical drills can not break them as they have a fully welded multi-bend body with drill resistant armour plate providing double protection to the lock and vital parts. The Rhino is available in a fire-resistant version too. Mechanical variant of this model opens only with a high-precision six-lever key and is equipped with a coin-slot.

Electrical or Mechanical Safire Safes are designed to withstand fire for an hour. They also prevent hot gases and smoke from seeping in and damaging files. Choice of locking system is offered among one-key, two-key and a numerical combination models. Mechanical Matrix Safes provide enhanced fire and burglar resistance with un-pickable dual control, six-lever lock and double wall construction. Prices of the safes range from Rs.825 to Rs.27,700 depending on the storage capacity and type.
