Aesthetically yours: Go for the right colour choice and try to complement it with the furniture.
Living room, that’s what it is called. Therefore, it goes without saying that such a room should exude life, be alive and vibrant in all aspects of the space making for a colourful, breathe easy environ. Understand that it is the place of your dwelling, a mirror of your tastes, a reflection of your attitude and choices. It is the space that welcomes visitors and guests to your abode and hence has to be designed and decorated in such a way that it offers them comfort.
And also engross them visually. It becomes imperative that while you sit down to work or rework on the living room, you factor not only sofa or centre pieces as utility but also spare thoughts or seek professional advice on making the place a real interesting one.Seating is the most essential aspect of a living room and to serve this purpose, appropriate arrangements have to be put in place. Check the available space and then work on the right spot to have the sofa. Since living room usually links the main entrance with the hall and leads the way to other rooms, avoid the common pitfall of having the seating arranged in the connecting passage.
Have the sofa as the central point around which you can work out other details. The corner tables, newspaper stand, potted plants and all others can fall in place based on its location. See if a carpet, even a small one taking the centre space, can be added to spruce it up further.
It cannot be dreary and monotonous. And to ensure that it is vibrant, add a dash of colour and decoration around. That however, does not mean cluttering the space with every piece of décor item that you pick from the market. Dismiss the idea of packing the room with all that you think is good and beautiful which could throw up a rather chaotic look. Remember sparse is often the most pleasing!
Colour coordination
Go with a right colour choice and if possible try to complement it with the furniture and other features of the living room. Do not end up giving a rather multi-hued look that ends up messy. What fills the display cabinets also is important, for you have to be choosy for an aesthetic appeal. Most have the tendency of stuffing it with worn out trophies won in childhood, every artefact they possess, books that comes their way and so on and so forth. Limit them and space properly and ensure that they gel with the overall feel. Wall hangings are also to be positioned with proper thought. Let them not dangle dangerously over the seating area. Or just hang them all over. Get creative and create patterns and designs on the walls which will enhance the visual appeal. Same goes with the indoor plants. Instead of cramming with greenery, create exclusive corners for the touch of green. Run a check list of all the items that are to occupy the living room. A television set, sound system, acoustic boxes if any, should be put in such a way that they do not hinder movement.
