For all those avid watchers of latest trends and best international brands in furniture and home decor, the ongoing ‘Inner Space Affaire’ furniture festival is an ideal place to be at.Organised by Inner Space, one of the biggest furniture showrooms in city at Banjara Hills Rd.No.12, in its sprawling premises, the festival brought, for the first time, world class brands in furniture, crockery, leather goods along with traditional ca
rved wooden furniture in teak from Orissa, Udaipur, Rajasthan and contemporary furniture to suit the changing preferences and life styles of Hyderabadis.
International brand Noritake (Japan) crockery, glassware, ceramic material, known for mixing distinctive designs with innovative technology has an arresting display of fine dinnerware. The products are elitist with a 54-piece dinner set costing over Rs.50,000.
Italian leather giant
Damilano is an Italian brand known for its leather goods reputed for its quality worldwide. It has on display, a variety of handbags and leather products.
If one is looking for the furniture and nursery décor, one can head for ‘Bibs N Cribs’ section, again an international brand. Apart from toddler beds, crib bedding and crib bedding sets, strollers, baby quilts, children’s sofas, there are a variety of items that would add novelty to a children’s room..
The products that are on display are claimed to be created keeping in mind health, safety and security of the infants.
Then there are unusual murals to deck up your walls. Termed aptly ‘Wall jewels’ by designer Preethi Agarwal, these murals come with a wooden base and chemical coating to give glaze and life with different kinds of glass pieces stuck in geometrical patterns and abstract designs, in different sizes. The same technique is used to design vases, photo frames that look interesting and alluring. The artefacts are priced in the range of Rs.2,000 to 15,000.
The Inner Space also put on display its own fashion line . The designer garments on display stand out because of the effort and creativity gone into using traditional Kalamkari work for boutique ware and encourage artisans with a wider market for their craft. In -house designer Tahera says, the effort is to give Kalamkari a different feel and design by using it on a variety of fabric from fine cotton, Mangalgiri cotton, chiffon, knitted fabric, et al. The aim is to use traditional arts in making a fashion statement.
The organisers of the festival, Anjana Sanghi, Reeta Sanghi and Swathi Sanghi say that products suit all purses and more importantly to bring hitherto metro-specific international brands to the city in line with aspirations of people. The exhibition draws to a close on April 13.
