If one goes by what Deepika and Yogesh have achieved in their Neelangarai house, one ground (2400 sq.ft) it looks is not all that small size of a plot. An intelligent design skillfully utilises the space, adds value and makes the house appealing.
This architect couple have taken full advantage of the north-south alignment of the plot and brought in plenty of light through large corner and French windows.
The house they have designed for themselves and their two school going children is compact yet spacious and simple but thoughtfully done. The house effortlessly extends outside through terrace and gardens.
The Athangudi tiles on floors and select use of wood add to the warmth of the interiors. The open kitchen and dining are in the centre of attention. The double height space at the entrance adds to spaciousness and staircase takes you to the bedrooms and mid-landing work space. The exterior is strict composition in straight line.
The total built up area is about 2200 sq.ft and was completed in 11 months. The costs of construction are being compiled and the exact figures are yet to be computed. But we are certain that the costs were reasonable, say Deepika and Yogesh.
