White ants on a black job
What is the pest that poses maximum threat to a wooden structure? It’s none other than our good old termite. Since wood is what tickles the palate of termites most, they go on infesting a home with hardly any remorse. While a thorough and complete solution could be offered by a professional, here are some tips that can help in keeping the termites at bay.
Termite emulsion treatment of wood content at home that could be prone to termite infestation can be of help. Even the infested ones can be treated with this. The wood that is chiselled into different shapes of furniture too should be treated with termiticide. If the carpenter is working on carving furniture, insist that appropriate treatment is given before applying paint or varnish.
Try to avoid water accumulation near the foundation, contact with the wood and also eliminate possible contact between wood and the soil. Spraying walls at masonry stage with approved chemicals can also be of some help. Cupboards and attics should be cleaned regularly to prevent them from turning into a breeding ground . Another easy precaution is to avoid having any fixed wooden furniture or fixtures to bathroom walls or those adjoining them.
The first sign of termites happily chewing away the wood should make you scurry for some appropriate ways of chasing them away.
Don’t delay, else they will savour till there is little left!
