Papaya power

Among fruits, papaya is in a league of its own, considering its excellent nutritive value and the widespread health benefits it gives. Do not consume papaya seeds, as it can create toxic effects in some persons. Grow the papaya tree in a patch of soil exposed to bright sunlight. You can grow the tree adjacent to your compound walls. The tree has soft roots and will not damage the building’s foundations. It has a lifetime of over six years. It is a fast growing tree and will yield fruits within a year. What is more, the fruits are available almost through the year. The tree needs good amounts of water — about 2 litres a day. Papaya trees are best propagated from cuttings or from seeds, which should be washed first to remove the gelatinous layer over them.
