Cement export to Nepal allowed

The existing ban on export to Nepal is not applicable, says a notification
|
The Union Government amended the policy banning export of cement to allow shipments to Nepal, which relies on India for 70 per cent of its requirement for the construction material. “The existing ban on export of cement and cement clinker shall not be applicable to export to Nepal,” a notification issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade stated.
The government had banned export of cement on April 11 to increase its domestic availability and cool prices.
The demand-supply mismatch of the material has been one of the reasons for high inflation in the country.
