Asia Property index launched

Global index provider Standard & Poor’s announced the launch of S&P Asia Property index for providing investors with diversified and investible exposure to the Asian property market.

The index is a subset of the S&P/Citigroup Global Property Index, which consists of more than 400 stocks and would provide liquid exposure to the publicly-listed companies in the Asian property and real estate markets.

“The index comprises 40 listed Asian property companies and would be used by banks and asset management companies to create retail investment products,” a S&P release said.

Standard & Poor’s has launched the S&P Asia Property 40 index because there is currently no index that provides investors efficient access to this Asian asset class, Standard & Poor’s Index Services Vice President Tim Eisenhauer said.
